Employee Spotlight: Adam Attinello, Vice President of Software Engineering

Posted on by

eOriginal is a great place to work filled with even greater people. We wanted to take a moment each month to recognize the dedicated individuals that shape our company with an Employee Spotlight blog series. Each person at eOriginal makes a difference, and they all deserve a moment to shine!

This month our Vice President of Software Engineering, Adam Attinello is the focus of the series. Believe it or not, the decision to feature Adam was made prior to realizing that June marks his 10-year anniversary at eOriginal. Adam started with the company in June 2006 as a Quality Assurance Automation Engineer while attending the University of Maryland Baltimore County’s Computer Science undergraduate program. He was responsible for a variety of other engineering roles before being promoted to eOriginal’s VP of Software Engineering in January 2012. In his current position, Adam is responsible for the development, planning, and execution of eOriginal’s core product lines.

Q: What are 3 words to describe eOriginal?

Adam: Flexible, Efficient, Leader

Q: Best vacation you’ve been on?

Adam: Several years ago, about 4 BC (4 years before children) my wife and I took a 10-day trip to Italy. It was absolutely amazing, we spent several days in Rome, Tuscany, Florence, and Venice. We hired a private driver (Claudio) to drive us all around and act as a tour guide. He was quite the character and we had the best trip of our lives.

Q: If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be?

Adam: I listen to/read any interview with Bill Gates. The passion and drive he shows in all subjects he tackles is amazing. I once listened to a 20-minute speech he gave on inventing True Type fonts and it was just fascinating to hear how something so trivial today, was so ground breaking back then. Even then, Gates and Apple knew what an amazing and core feature they were tackling. (Wow, I should not have admitted I listened to a 20 minute interview with Bill Gates talking about computer fonts).

Q: People would be surprised if they knew:

Adam: I am actually a really bad “computer nerd”. I have never really been into the traditional comic books, computer games and sci-fi that programmers tend to enjoy. I was (and still am) more of an outdoor kid. I love being outside with my kids, doing yard work and hands on projects. My parents bought my boys Power Wheels® for their 3rd birthday. I felt they did not go fast enough, so I ordered 2 additional 6 volt batteries and additional fuses, then installed them in series with the existing 12 volt batteries. Now the ride-on toy vehicles reach a top speed of about 8 miles per hour (close to 10 downhill). They are by far the fastest Power Wheels you have ever seen.

Q: What is the first concert you attended?

Adam: In 1996 I saw Weird Al’s “Bad Hair Tour” in Allentown, PA. This was right after “Amish Paradise” came out and he brought out all the hits like “Fat” and “Eat It”.

Q: What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?

Adam: My family. I have a wonderful wife, twin 3-year-old boys, and a girl on the way (she may even be here by the time this blog is posted). Getting home to play with them is the best part of my day/week.

We hope you enjoyed learning more about our brilliant, one-of-a-kind vice president of software engineering. eOriginal’s product and company would not be what they are today without Adam’s 10 years of dedication.
